Link building for you website

Link building, what is it? It is the proccess of building links or in-roads to your business website. Many people build links for SEO (search engine optimization). Links should not be built for seo, they should be built to drive customers and sales to your business website. If you do link building the right way, then you will benefit from good search results.

There is much information on the internet about link building. Most of which I have seen that is wrong or misleading. If you want your business website to stand the test of time then you need to build links the proper way.

Teaching you how to correctly build links is beyond the scope of this article. I instead point you to Eric Ward's website.
http://www.ericward.com
Eric does link building the correct way and has been doing so for over 15 years.

Another place you can get more advice is:
http://toddjir.com

Many people on the internet will teach you link building is about getting as many links as you can . The truth is its about the quality if links you build. This can take time to learn and many of you will be tempted to find a firm or person who will get you as many links as they can. do not do it. I instead encourage you, if you want your website to stay around for as long as it can, learn how to build links the proper way.

You don't want to wake up one day and find all your hard work down the drain such as I have. I lost a website I had for 5 years in Google. And I know it was from the bad link building I did when I was still green to link building.

Learn how to generate website traffic

You want to learn how to generate web traffic? Just about everyone does, its no secret. For websites traffic means money and in some cases it can mean a lot of money.

The more website marketing you do and the more web traffic you have, the better a website does in sales, advertising and more. But you may have just started online and you have a website and you want to get web traffic. First of all it does take work. It's not some overnight sensation where you make millions overnight. But you can generate good website traffic and make good money when you learn to have a plan and stick with it.

Ok, so the big question. How to generate web traffic? Not just any old traffic either but targeted traffic to your website. There are many ways one can get a lot of website traffic. You can do search engine optimization, write articles, get links to a website, exchange links, use joint ventures and more. And each one has its little secret that can generate alot of traffic. And, you can also put many of them together and get tons of traffic to a website. But you have to have a plan.

Look, many people when they first start out try to do too many things when they learn how to generate web traffic. I am here to tell you there are only so many hours in a day and you can only do so much. This is why many successful online marketers learn to outsource a great deal of their work. This is especially true for the free traffic methods. Are free traffic methods worth it? You bet and then some. But they do take alot of work. So, my advice is to learn about all the free ways to generate web traffic but then learn and use the ones which you can do yourself and outsource the rest.

Take for instance, I learned search engine optimization and article writing when I wanted to learn how to get website traffic for free. Both of these help to generate alot of website traffic to my websites. Then I have a plan in an excel spreadsheet and outsource the rest. This free's up my time to do other things where I can market my websites.

Now, article writing can bring you tons of web traffic to the point where you don't even need the search engines when you learn how to increase traffic to your site. However, when you write and distribute articles correctly you can also benefit from the search engines for finding website traffic.

It's best to learn how to generate web traffic with free and paid methods. Start small and use free things like seo optimization and article writing and lean all you can about them and then move into paid methods slowly and you will learn how to generate web traffic big time to your website.

Buyer keywords - keywords that sell on the internet

Today I want to talk a little about buyer keywords and what they can mean to your business online and your websites bottom line.

You see, many people just look for keywords which produce a lot of traffic. All they want is traffic and nothing more. Well, thinking like that is not what is going to make you the most money. Sure we all want traffic and tons of it. But you have to think relevance and targeted.

Think about this for a moment. You can have all the traffic in the world. But, if no one buys anything from you or your phone never rings what good is it?

There are many keywords to choose from out there. But what separates good ones from bad ones and more importantly what makes a key word a buying keyword?

Ok, there are on a basic level two kinds of keywords. A single or short tail keyword and then a long tail keyword. So what do these mean? You see a word like dancing is very general. When a searcher types this keyword into google, they are just looking. At this point they may not even know what they are looking for. They could be looking for dance shoes, dancing lesson or dancing movies. You do not know.

Now, with this thought in mind, there are three levels to a search cycle. There is the research stage, In this stage the person is just looking, Then comes the Then comes the evaluation stage and finally the buying stage.

When people are ready to buy on a search engine they get very specific with their words. So someone may search Nikon camera at first and then go all the way to a specific Nikon camera model number in a engine. Again, when they get specific they are in a buying frame of mind.

Ok that's enough for now. More to come later.

Getting traffic to your Business Website!

Of all the questions I am ever asked by business owners with a website, I would have to say the most asked question is: how to get more traffic to their websites.

Before I mention a couple of ways to gain traffic, I want to talk about quality.

You see, getting traffic to your site is great and all. But, you have to make sure you spend your time getting quality web traffic. And I don't mean going out and paying for exit pop ups and the like. Those are a total waste of time.

If you are going to spend money, you will want to try pay per click advertising. However you will need to learn a little bit about it first. Because if you don't you can waste a lot of money and fast. So you need to make sure what you are doing. Check out the website by Perry Marshall, http://www.perrymashall.com

He has a great book that will teach you about AdWords. Make sure you pick up a copy or at least find something or someone to teach you about AdWords.

A way to get free traffic.

If you have a small website with under 30 pages, you may or may not have some good local search engine keyword listings. That's great. However, I can bet with so few pages you are not getting a lot of traffic to your website like you had hoped.

One of the ways you can get traffic is by gain links to your website from other local relevant business's. Not your direct competition, but business's that are like yours.

Your goal here would be to try and find some local websites by searching in Google with keywords. Let's say you are a plumber. You could find and trade links with heating and air or painting business's.

The way to look for these websites in Google is by typing in a command. You simply type in the Google search box.

Keyword +add url

ie, painters Cleveland +add url

The add url function will search websites where they accept links. Try it it's pretty easy. Just search down the list and keep track of each website in an excel spreadsheet. Get about 30 or so of these sites and then go back and start submitting your url.

Sure, this may seem like alot of work but, if you play your cards right and find websites with some good quality traffic, they too will give you the traffic you are looking for.

At first try exchanging links with 30 and see what results you get. Add more if you don't get the results you are looking for.

Now one last word of caution here. If you count on search engine rankings, this may or may not be for you. The reason is because some search engines are cracking down on link exchanges. So you have to make sure you only exchange links with relevant websites.

Also you do not want to link with anyone who practices bad search engine marketing. That is linking to link farms. A link farm is a web page or website set up to do nothing but trade links that have nothing to do with each other.

Don't put all your eggs in one basket.

The best strategy is to trade a few links that will give you some good local traffic and keep your search engine rankings. Never put all your marketing eggs into one basket with your local business website.

Trade Shows and getting Leads!

Here is a simple little post about doing trade shows. A trade show can be a great place to gain customers and leads for your business. However be smart about it. DO not do a trade show just to be there. Make sure you have a good amount of flyers that represent your business.

Also, you might want to consider running some kind of contest. When people fill out your contest form ask them for an email. This way you will be able to email them information about your business.

And, you don't just have to email them all about your business either. If after a while their email address does not make them be a customer, why not join an affailite program and email them about the program. Just make sure you dont push too hard. Just give them some good basic information about the program or product.

Remember, you can email this customer now for life or until they get off of your list. So be creative with the leads.

So, as you can see trade shows are a great way to gain customers and leads. Just be smart about it!
